Software for the filings a small company can't avoid, built so you can see where the figures come from.
standing.tax is for directors who would rather understand their company's returns than hand them over and hope. It keeps the books, works out the returns from them, and shows its working.
What standing.tax is
A web application for a UK limited company and its directors. You keep the company's records in it, and it prepares what the company owes HMRC and Companies House from those records: the annual accounts, the Company Tax Return, the confirmation statement and VAT returns.
You can prepare everything now; sending to HMRC and Companies House opens soon.
What it isn't
standing.tax is not a firm of accountants, and it doesn't act for you. It's the software you use to do it yourself.
- Your company files under its own authority: you connect your own HMRC sign-in, and your company's own authentication code goes on its Companies House filings. standing.tax is the software, not your agent.
- There is nowhere in standing.tax to type a tax question. Where what you need is advice, it says so plainly: that's one for an accountant.
How we've built it
A tax return with a wrong figure in it is a problem for the person who signed it, so these four things come first:
- Tap a figure on the return to see the invoices and bank lines that make it up.
- If your company's return needs something standing.tax doesn't cover, it says so and gives the reason. It never guesses.
- You check and approve every figure. Nothing is filed until you have.
- Download everything in one go: every document, every entry in your books and every filing receipt, in files any other software can open.
